The BBC Cardiff Singer of the World is a biennial competition that takes place at St David’s Hall, Cardiff.

Established in 1983, the week-long competition quickly gained a reputation as the premier showcase for opera and concert singers starting their career.

Welsh baritone Bryn Terfel became the first winner of the prize for lieder singing in 1989, and this launched his career.

We look forward to welcoming more singers from around the world to Wales for the next competition takes place in 2019.
