NPTC Group of Colleges recently welcomed senior officials from the Government of Karnataka in India.
The visit was a direct outcome of the Global Wales initiative in March 2024, when the further education Principals’ delegation to India laid the groundwork for a formal partnership with the Government Tool Room and Training Centre (GTTC) in Karnataka.
The meeting with the Government Tool Room and Training Centre (GTTC) in Karnataka was facilitated by the British Council in association with the British High Commission in Bengaluru and the Welsh Government. The purpose of the meeting was to provide the delegation of further education Principals from Wales with an opportunity to understand the unique structure and functioning of GTTC.
Over three days, the group carried out several discussions where they would talk about international experiences, industry collaborations, and awarding body frameworks.
These discussions provided significant opportunities for building a robust foundation for collaboration in skills development and education.
Key objectives and outcomes of the visit
- Strengthening UK-Karnataka educational collaboration
This visit reinforced the shared vision of NPTC and GTTC to elevate technical education standards in Karnataka through NPTC’s industry-aligned UK framework. The collaboration is expected to have a lasting impact on Karnataka’s employability and skills ecosystem. - Facility and programme review
Delegates toured NPTC’s training labs and high-tech facilities, gathering insights into the infrastructure and curriculum design that will shape GTTC’s future developments. - Curriculum and faculty development strategy
Key meetings focused on developing a phased curriculum rollout and faculty upskilling strategy. Plans include integrating VTCT-endorsed qualifications and aligning GTTC's offerings with global standards. - Strategic planning and executive engagement
Discussions with NPTC executives established a clear pathway for project milestones, resource allocation, and timelines, ensuring alignment with Karnataka’s technical and vocational education objectives.
This partnership, solidified by the recent delegation visit, is a landmark for Wales and India relations in the further education sector and is poised to transform Karnataka’s technical education landscape.
