From coast to coast to coast, we delivered over 70 activities spanning seven provinces across Canada, raising Wales’ profile across the Atlantic and engaging millions of people along the way. We’ve inspired, educated and created new opportunities for Wales and Canada to work together.

Here are some of our highlights:

We held activities designed to shine a light on arts and culture, trade and investment, science and research, academia, tourism, sports diplomacy and our shared commitment to sustainability and a greener future.

We attended and represented Wales at COP15 in Montreal, launched the third Wales-Quebec joint call for proposalsbuilt new relationships around well-being and sustainable development with the Future Generations Commissioner's visit to Canada and held many high-level government meetings.

We launched the SoftPowerCymru podcast series exploring the power of sports in creating relationships between countries, hosted local business, politicians and other contacts at the Women’s Rugby Wales v Canada match in Halifax, Nova Scotia and supported World Cup watch parties with the Welsh diaspora in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa and Halifax.

We transported over 2,000 visitors to Wales via a VR headset at our ‘Doors Open Ottawa’ event, celebrated and showcased Welsh music at Breakout West Festival, M for Montreal and supported the North American Welsh Choir tour in Alberta, and premiered the film 'Donna' at Capital Pride.

…to name just a few!

If this year has shown us anything, it’s that our two nations have even more in common than we thought. Wales in Canada year has seen us develop and strengthen our relationship with Canada, and create a legacy that we hope will continue long after Wales in Canada year is over.

It's now time to pass the baton to Wales in France 2023. Take a look at their Twitter page to learn more.
